The Colorado Chapter, NSDAR, currently has 144 members from the Denver metro area representing a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, and interests. We meet on the fourth Friday of each month, September through May, with occasional Saturday meetings. We are a service organization that focuses on DAR goals of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Our registrar and volunteer genealogists take an active role in assisting prospective members in their ancestry research and application paperwork. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a volunteer service organization founded in Washington, D.C. on October 11, 1890. We promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. From providing scholarships, to supporting community volunteer projects, to historic preservation, the DAR is committed to helping keep America strong. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. DAR defines a patriot” as one who provided service or direct assistance in achieving America’s independence. The Colorado Chapter founded its chapter in 1904, making us the fourth chapter to organize in the State of Colorado. We have many women from all walks of life whose ancestors participated in some way, in the Revolutionary War. The DAR has chapters all over the world and our Colorado Chapter NSDAR is growing.
